The winner of EdgeCAM’s prize draw held
at MACH 2006 in May enjoyed an exciting day at Silverstone
on 17 September.
Wayne Parkins who works for Intoco
– an independent supplier of high quality press components
– won two tickets for the British Superbike Championships,
courtesy of EdgeCAM client Honda Racing, and took 12-year-old
son Adam along with him. They were thrilled to watch Honda
rider Ryuichi Kiyonari win both races, placing him in a good
position to win the championship, which he did in the last
round held at Brands Hatch a fortnight later.

“I used to do a bit of mechanics for a friend who raced
a Norton in classic bike races in the 1980s, so I was really
pleased to win the tickets,” says Parkins. “The
atmosphere was electric and the hospitality first class. Adam
and I would like to thank EdgeCAM and Honda for a day out
that we will both remember for a long time. It’s nice
to think that EdgeCAM have given something back to one of
their customers.”
Intoco,
which has been using EdgeCAM for the past four years, has
three seats of advanced production and one of advanced turning,
used on Mazak Integrex mill/turn machines. As production development
engineer, Parkins is the main EdgeCAM programmer and also
sources new tooling to speed up machining time; three other
employees are trained to use the software.
