The latest NC Software and Related Services
Market Assessment from the US market research company, CIMdata,
establishes Pathtrace, the developer of EdgeCAM as the leading supplier
in terms of seats shipped to the education market in 2004, with
projections to continue this position in 2005. Over 6000 seats were
installed in educational institutions in 2004 with double digit
percentage growth expected in 2005.
Education
is a key market for EdgeCAM, enabling a more diverse group of students
to be successful in engineering technology using the latest generation
CAM software. Pathtrace has contributed to a number of initiatives
for education, including Project Lead the Way (PLTW). Project Lead
the Way (www.pltw.org)
is a national program forming partnerships between educational institutions
and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers
and engineering technologists graduating in the United States. The
programs are used by over 1300 schools in 45 states and the District
of Columbia. Pathtrace has been the CAM partner to the PLTW program
since 2004.
The United States is not the only country
in which Pathtrace has a significant share of the educational market
for CAM software. EdgeCAM can be found in hundreds of schools and
colleges worldwide including the UK, Japan, Brazil, Costa Rica,
